CHILD THERAPY Child therapy is, in most cases, play therapy. Play interactions with a therapist help the child to express underlying thoughts and feelings, practice new coping strategies, and develop and improve social skills.
ADOLESCENT THERAPY Therapy with adolescents requires excellent rapport-building and an ability to relate. Validating teens' thoughts and feelings allows them to explore themselves and to develop coping skills. YOUNG ADULTS Using individual talk therapy, the therapist helps the young adult explore issues during this transitional time of life. Themes often include professional growth and development, relationships, and family dynamics. PARENT WORK Therapy with parents is most meaningful in conjunction with child therapy. In parent work, the therapist encourages parents to discuss their concerns and provides support to parents as they work to improve their children’s lives. PARENT-CHILD DYADIC THERAPY Sometimes parents and children need improvement in their communication skills and connection to each other. In this in vivo process, I work with the parent and child together to improve their relationship. |
ADULTS In order to create change, we must make the the unconscious conscious. Using a psychodynamic approach, we will explore presenting problems, past events, and family of origin issues that have contributed to making the client the person they are today. Using mindfulness techniques, I help clients to understand how their underlying thoughts and belief systems are affecting them.
